so here's the thing

Sorry for the absence again! My computer is practically fried and I am just too scared to turn it on sometimes! I always think of these great things to write down, but they never actually make it on here... sorry about that.

so here are a few things I am loving this week!

{morning lattes from this coffee shop that used to be a news paper}

{work clothes-business casual of course.}

 {exploring downtown}

{feeling like an adult with a real job}

{spending me time at the gym}

{exposed brick}

{breathing fresh air}

{pushing myself to new heights}

{remembering all our laughs}

{getting up early and starting my day off right}

{cute new clothes for a cute new job}

 {high heels-sassy ones at that}

{open fields}

 {fresh cut tulips}
 {living vicariously through my friends' travels}

I hope everyone has a fabulous rest of the week and weekend! hopefully my computer will miraculously fix itself!

Oh, and I started my internship this week.  I LOVE it! I couldn't be happier! I feel like it is only going to get more challenging and rewarding as the weeks come at me!

sometimes i think to myself, self what you've got here is pretty great...

dear me,
life is great, don't forget that. ever. sometimes you do.
what you've got is a blessing compared to so many others in this world.
don't let people get in the way of your happiness, they aren't worth it.
if you have to do something extra to become someone's friend you don't need them.
waking up early with coffee and a good read, is your favorite way to start your day.

go outside even when the pollen makes you want to curl up in a ball and sleep.
don't underestimate the power of a good night's sleep, or a nap for that matter.
don't let people tell you that coffee and fancy drinks are bad for you, because they make you so happy, for some odd reason.
don't forget to smile at people, because when people smile at you it makes your day.

remember that you love the color green, especially in spring when it is more abundant that ever.
don't forget to tell your friends how much you miss them, and always make time for them.
just because sleeping is one of your favorite things to do, don't let it get in the way of life.
sing in the car with all the windows down, you love it.
don't forget that your puppy loves you, and will hug you anytime she can--and those walks you take with her, she loves them, and they clear your mind.

when you get frustrated, cleaning or going for a run is a lot better way to let your anger out that yelling and cursing, even if that's what you feel like doing.
don't be afraid of what you are thinking, even if it isn't the same as anyone else, be bold with your thoughts.
don't let creativity scare you, you're better at it than you think.
being fearless is hard, but it is a great way to live your life.
don't get too caught up with schedules, although they make you feel in control, you're not... the Man upstairs is
don't ever forget how much you love the short conversations you have at night with the man of your dreams, he always tells you he loves you, and you believe it even more each night.
you love your family, especially when you sit on the patio and talk about random nothings.

keeping your room clean makes you feel more relaxed, it is worth the extra effort.
when times get tough, pray.
Don't rely on yourself, we weren't designed to do that.
when you give others advice, make sure you are applying it to your own life.
remember to love yourself, if you're not loving yourself how can you love others?

to be anywhere.

Greece.

i have always wanted to travel to greece.
i'll admit it stemmed from gilmore girls.
i love alexis bledel.
so sisterhood of the traveling pants...head over heels in love with it.
but in all honesty, who wouldn't want to be there?
it is romantic
authentic
and beautiful
forget that they don't speak english, i think i can manage...
i wish i could immerse myself in the cities on the cliffs.
and being there with you, would be the cherry to this sundae.

it's like a rubix cube.

funny thing about weather is that you can never rely on it listening to you
but you can always rely on it teasing you
today is rainy. real rainy

but not all is awful.
i went to class and then scooted to the gym
where i did something crazy!
i stayed on the treadmill for 45 minutes.
i know, crazy.
i did 5 minutes walk - 6 minute runs
and of course jammed to the classics like
party in the u.s.a (in honor of our boys playing hockey)
body language (by jesse mcartney... not sure why, but love it!)
and hey, soul sister... great running music!

recently i have been trying to figure out my future.
bad idea. i know...
but really come on! who doesn't want to have some kind of plan for their future??

i had a real awkward convo with p's parents at lunch when i mentioned something about probably finding a year long job and the mr. asked why? and i simply stated because i would follow p after he graduated (1 year of grad school).  i got a strange look from both the mr. & the mrs.... i know they support p and i completely. and i'm like 90% positive they are excited to add me to their family, one day.
but really, it was an awkward moment all around... i'm not sure if it was because i read into it way to much (which is the likely case) or because really, should i search for a one year job... would it be more beneficial to just pack up and go where we will be going...just get there a year earlier?
or should i stay and do part time,
volunteer for a year...
or just take some time off?

oh planning. it makes me crazy sometimes... i wish my mind would let me let it go. it will all fall into place eventually.
i just need to find patience.

7 things i like about me.

maybe you will think i'm crazy but here are 7 random things about my life!

I always think of the worst possible situation.  I mean crazy things like "_____got in a wreck and can't get to the phone to call." (don't worry, I'm working on it).

my closet is color coded. completely. then arranged by shortest to longest in that color.

when in the shower i hang two towels on the towel rack at the end of the shower.  when i'm done showering, i always use the left one first to dry my hair.

i absolutely love watching so you think you can dance.  i aspire to be a contemporary dancer. which my old bones will never let me be!

i am obsessed with dogs.  not in a weird fetish way.  i just think they can bring so much joy to someone's life! as my puppy does!

i pretty much wear jeans everyday and I have no problem with it at all.  i have a really hard time when i need to dress up though, and jeans are not an option.

i have naturally blond hair, and i wish there was some kind of shampoo that would make it be it's blondest without me having to say "i do this treatment to my hair to keep it blond".

2nd award

so lots going on! today has truly been a busy day!

so anyways an update on the outfit... i did steal my friends camera today and took a pic of my feet

then tonight since i am just totally self absorbed, i made my dad take a picture of me while i stopped by for a hot second

So back to reality. i ate dinner/am eating dinner right now 9:41 p.m. wow, so much for the no eating after 9:00 p.m. rule... i am also eating typical college kid food... ramen... and i love it!
my favorite kind of ramen is the creamy chicken kind. i don't like it just any way though.  i like it when there is hardly any water in it so the noodles are less soupy...

what about y'all? favorite kind of ramen noodles?

 Jennifer gave me my second award!

The rules of this award are as follows:

1. To accept the award, you must post it on your blog with the name of the person who has granted you the award, and a link to their blog.
2. Pass the award on to approximately 15 other blogs that you recently discovered, and think are great!
3. Contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

so this is a perfect time for me to pass along this award because over the weekend i spent hours looking up new blogs and i found quite a few i have fallen for and feel they definitely deserve this!

Marcela from The Joy of Enjoying
Mrs. Preppy from Mrs. Preppy
Chloe from My Favourite Things
Katie from Color me Katie
Legally Fabulous from Legally Faboulous
Lindsay from La Belle Vie
Holler from Puccini & Pearls
Sweet Everythings a collection of love

i'm aware that this isn't even close to 15 ladies, but i thought these ladies deserved this award!

agape

last night i made some of my guy friends dinner... we had mac-n-cheese with hot dogs cut up in it and green beans--a childhood favorite.  it was really nice to get out of my mini apartment and hang out with them... while i was there i told them about my absolutely not stressful day and how great it was.  they ended up being great guys to vent to.  they helped me realize that it wasn't that much work, i just needed to focus on God and He alone would help me get through each day! one of my friends j even had my shakespeare professor last semester and said he was hard but a great teacher and that he learned a lot.  so i slept well last night with no nightmares about school!

today was busy so i didn't exactly have the time to even think of stressing about class.  i did finally purchase my books which i will pick up tomorrow.  once i get cracking on my reading this weekend, i will feel better to have some things crossed off my homework list.

other than that i have realized that there really is no reason to stress over things you can't control.

i am also working on setting boundaries.  my pastor spoke about it the other weekend during the first section of a series he is calling "Resolutions" in spirits of the double digit year. i am working on learning how to say "no" more often to ensure that my days are meaningful and led by Christ.

i know that sounds hypocritical because i was talking about how i need to get cracking on my school work...but last semester i really learned the value of time with Christ.
I am doing this group through young life called BRU Crew (Bible Readers United...we felt cool when we made up the name hah!) we spend an hour a week together reading the Bible.  We started at Genesis 1 and are reading all the way through it in 9 months.  Hard, but honestly it has been well worth it. this group forces me to spend time alone with God on a regular basis on a personal level.

i'm not going to lie, i am a little behind because i wasn't a very responsible reader over break. but i am sure that i am more stressed about the reading than Jesus is.... last semester the time i spent with God really made me reevaluate my priorities.  for some reason it all clicked.  i was able to balance all my school work and everything else and it paid off.  so even though i was super stressed the other day and called it my "challenge" and thought it would be impossible to do great,  forget what i said.

i know i will be able to because i am focusing on Him and He alone gives me the strength to get through my days.  So by focusing on Him daily, all the craziness of class and school work fall right into place.

"...do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34

 Thanks so much to Katy Mary for my very first Blog Award!  She just started a new blog called Three Hundred Sixty Five Loves and it is fabulous! My favorite thing about her is that no matter how small my little blog family is, she always takes the time to comment!

1. Katharine is one of my dearest friends I met at college.  She definitely deserves this award because her posts are so real.  She speaks truth more than anyone I know and i love her for it.
 2. Laura may be one of my top read blogs.  I love everything she puts on it about decor.  She also has an amazing etsy shop with beautiful art!
3. Gracie is so fantastic.  She has a wedding coming up.  She is marrying the man of her dreams, and I can't wait to hear all about it! Her blog is just a joy to read.
3. Nicole is another top read blog on my list.  Not only do I hope to be her sister in law some day, but i hope my blog gets to be as lovely as hers!
4. Taza is famous in the blog world, for real. If you haven't read her blog or seen the cute pictures of her puppy, go asap because it is amazing!

December 8, 2009

a little bit of this and that....

so i got excited and i figured i'd post twice in one day.
big deal right, i have 2 followers so far :)
but maybe one day--people can come back and read these!
so who am i?

i'm a Christian, saved by grace
i'm a younglife leader, if you don't know what that is--check it out!
i love my younglife team and my girls at the school. they are such blessings to me.

i pretty much wear jeans and a t every day.
comfort is key.
but it never hurts to put on my sassy boots and have a good time!
i'm a student, who sometimes takes grades far too seriously.
coffee could be my name, and one time i wrote a metaphorical paper about "coffee" being me. i got an A+
i don't know if i could live without coffee.
when it comes to earrings...pearls.
i am a big fan of smiling, i think it helps the blues go away.
laughing with friends and family may be my favorite thing.
i do love the mountains and the beach-i could never choose between them.
i  am in love with the greatest guy on this earth... preston. he's the light of my world.
besides my precious puppy, elsie... who i rescued from the animal shelter.
she's pretty much a person too. sass and all.
my roommate thinks God put me on this earth for dogs.
i'm beginning to agree.
i used to be a cheerleader where i go to school. but now i cheer for them.
i tend to plan a lot.
and usually my plans change. go figure.
i started playing clarinet when i was in 4th grade.
stress is a thing of the past for me, although i often find myself overwhelmed--is that the same thing?
i find myself loving weddings more and more each day, but i know mine is far off in the future.
so i try not to plan too far ahead.
college. well college is college... hard to explain the love hate relationship with it.
who knows where i'll be in 10 years.
i can be mean, and hold grudges... but who can't. i'm working on it.
i try not to lose my temper.
i do lose it in the car frequently to miley cyrus party in the USA and taylor swift romeo & juliet. these are my guilty pleasures.
but i do not limit my music listening capabilities to only teen pop queens.
i enjoy everything, especially if i can blast it and sing along!
crunchy or creamy? creamy all the way.

love is what everything is all about when it comes down to it. simple love.

here is my all time favorite christmas song, done by drew and ellie holcomb or "drellie" their band is called drew holcomb and the neighbors. they are amazing. the song is baby it's cold outside. no clue how to cleverly post the video here... but there's the link! enjoy*
